Kapil Sharma gets interim relief in the ILLEGAL construction saga..!

One of India’s most loved comedians, Kapil Sharma may be a happy man with the fact that ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ has been in the ‘Top 2’ category on TRP charts for consistent weeks; but the man always becomes a subject of controversies, time and again.

Few days ago, Kapil found himself embroiled in a controversy, where he was miffed and tweeted about the apparent corruption in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) pertaining asking to pay bribe for the construction of his office in Goregaon. The matter became even bigger as the tweet was addressed to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, even taunting by doubting the campaign slogan, ‘acche din’ (happy days).

And this led to a major turmoil, where the BMC went ahead and gathered some apparent evidence about the ILLEGAL construction of Kapil’s ninth floor flat of DLH Enclave, New Link Road, Goregaon.

BMC issued a notice to the comedian and even registered an FIR against Kapil, actor Irrfan Khan and builder Dev Land and Housing Ltd (DLH) under Section 53 (7) of the MRTP Act that deals with prosecuting flat owners for not complying with notices about unauthorized constructions.

However, according to a leading news daily, amidst all this, Kapil pleaded for a stay order on the notice and to the comedian’s relief, the Bombay High Court has granted the same.

Justices Ranjit More and Anuja Prabhudesai have granted interim relief to Kapil till 23rd November 2016 and will look into the matter further.

Kapil can breathe a sigh of relief, however, only temporarily. As he surely will be thinking about the future of this case too.
